I'm BACK

....from outer space.....

but really, I feel like blogging again.  After 2 years off the blog, I'm ready to come back.

I don't work in a preschool anymore, but I still work with kids, and still say funny stuff!!

Example:  I was working with a child the other day, let's call him Rico, and he was talking about how he's distantly related to Robert E. Lee.  He said "Robert E Lee is my great great great great abillion times great grandfather" then he went on to say "he lived a really long time ago, I mean a REALLY long time ago, even before the 80's!!!"    now that's a stinkin long time ago!

In other news - a year ago I relocated with some friends to Traverse City, got married, had another nephew and started working in home with kids who have difficulty learning and managing their own behavior.  We live in a beautiful house on the west bay, north of downtown Traverse.

More to came later (hopefully).

Peace.

Back to SCHOOOOOL (my mom's 3 favorite words)

Today was my first day back to school and OH WHAT A JOY IT WAS!! In many ways I look around me while in the preschool and wonder why I like it so much...children suffocating me, sneezing on me, tattletaling on eachother....then one of my pals comes up to me and says "Miss Laura, you are going to be my dinner!!!" while ladling spoonfuls of my pretend flesh into his mouth - it's amazing. Sometimes I bet the other teachers think I beat the children when they hear shrill cries coming from our classroom and see no one because we're all crawling around the floor pretending to be cheetahs and wolfs. I always capture the most children....hence the shrill cries.

When I walked into the classroom this morning I was greeted by knock knock jokes! Here was my favorite in the bunch:

knock knock
who's there?
cow
cow who?
cows don't say who, they say MOOOO!!

They also loved my cow knock knock joke that happens to be about in interuppting co--MOOOOOOOOOOO! If you have any good knock knock jokes for kids, please share. I am always trying to 1-up the kids, but they have way more jokes then I.

I shared a Cernan & Schmitt song with the kids today, the only kid appropriate one in the bunch (for those of you who don't know what Cernan & Schmitt is, it's the name of the band that I am in...not to be confused with the last 2 gentleman to walk on the moon...but that's what the band is named after). The song is Pigs and Goats for all you ridiculous fans out there. They sure got a kick out of it....pigs and goats, pigs and goats, they go together like milk shakes and floats, one goes oink and the other goes baa and they play together on the big open farm.....

.....life is good.

Winter Break

This picture reminds me of how I felt at times this xmas...

So, it's been awhile since I last updated....almost a month. I think a main reason has been that I have had a 2 week break from the preschool for the holidays. It was a much needed break, but I am really excited to get back in the classroom!!

I feel like my life is a rollercoaster lately, with constant ups and downs. I also feel like I have been a bit flakey and not really "there" recently. I am hoping to be grounded by the 4 year olds - brought back to reality a bit. They really know how to warm my heart and give me purpose. Man, it's going to be GREAT to see them.

I had a great time with Owen over the last 2 weeks - he came to Michigan for the holidays. He is starting to get a voice and it is so fun watching him try to form sounds. bawbawbaw...dadada....tetete....:)

For anyone who wants to come and visit my new place the address is:
924 W. Marshall St, Ferndale

It's a wonderful home and I live with wonderful people and I would love to have you over.

This blog wasn't very interesting....hopefully those kids will say some crazy shit this week:)

Shalom

4 year olds

Working in the classroom is constantly boosting my self-esteem. If anyone ever needs a pick-me-up just let me know and you can come visit the preschoolers. This past week one child told me "I wish you were my mommy" and another said "when I grow up, I want to be Miss Laura".....it's so great!! The children genuinely care about me:) I wish everyone was 4 years old....this world would be so understanding, forgiving, compassionate, innocent, and simple.

I am moving this weekend! I will be out on my own again in Ferndale. You are welcome to come visit at anytime:)

Sour Patch Kids

More Preschoolers quotes:

"When I want to grow up, I want to be a dad and feed my baby from a bottle."....then I replied, "That is SO great"....then he said "And I want to go to work too!"....."What do you want to do at work?"......"Duh Miss Laura! I will be on a computer all day. That's what work is!" -this was a little bit funny and sad all at the same time

"Ewwww, that's a cow!! Cows make milk come out of their tushies!" -we were playing with a cow puppet and she had just finished a glass of milk after her snack?!?

Peace.
